What Giraffes Eat
There are various types of food that Giraffes can eat. Their favorite, however, is acacia leaves. Acacia leaves are found in tropical and subtropical regions. They are in the form of shrubs and trees, and is a commonly used product in certain ares to make gum, soft drinks, candies and mints. These leaves are very pointy, but the giraffes that adore this plant feel absolutely nothing while devouring it because of their prehensile lips.
Other than Acacia leaves, Giraffes also favor apricot leaves. These leaves are a bright green and also very round, while the tip of the leaf sticks out towards the end. These leaves are very common for Giraffes to eat because there located in the climates in which Giraffes live in. It's also easy for them to bite into the leaves with the advantage of their height. other than this, Giraffes also like to browse through other various tree shrubs.
When it comes to water, giraffes can go without it for days. Giraffes usually drink about 2 gallons of water a week..Sometimes even more than that! One of the reasons happens to be that Acacia leaves store water in its leaves, so Giraffes can get both a good snack and water at the same time. At certain times, Giraffes do eat grass, but its difficult for most Giraffe's height- wise. They would have to spread their legs very far in order to get to ground- level. But why eat grass when you have many other choices?! It's height difference compared to other animals gives them the height to eat varietys of trees!
